The quality of your vacation clothing matters. We wouldn't sell something that we wouldn't wear ourselves, that's why our amazing vacation apparel has been meticulously sourced and designed.
Let's talk about the Vacation Darts logo. The logo design has gone through multiple iterations and designs. What started out as a variation of the famous Marlboro logo has turned into it's own beast, conveying the message of amplifying your vacation.
The first ever hat design was simply made on Canva by screen shotting images online. When I wore that hat out, the reception from people I ran into was exceptional. "They don't count on vacation" a bartend said to me one night, thus proving that the idea had legs.
Obviously, I couldn't use that in a commercial way, so I approached a graphic designer based in the UK, who used to work for companies like Lululemon. I met with them and expressed the idea, "I want to make the best vacation clothes" I said. "It's people who want to connect with others on vacation". "Honestly I just like smoking vacation darts and it's easier to get away with if everybody's doing it. "
They really loved it but didn't have the bandwidth to take on the project. so Unfortunately I had to set my sights elsewhere. I approached a few more people until I ultimately landed on a designer based in Canada who really understood the ethos.
"It's tongue and cheek, simple and cool vacation apparel built for fun". You nailed it!
One of the logos that was in the V1 of the deliverables had a gorilla head wearing a fedora. I loved the creativity but it wasn't until we landed on a palm tree that I knew we had something.
We probably went through 15 styles of palm tree before we made one with a little hidden dart in the palm leaves. I wanted to make something that when you wear it, people say "Oh that's funny" or "That's so cool" It takes the pressure off of you to go out and make friends on vacation, because they will come to you.
The vacation dart in the tree is a little easter egg for all who care. It doesn't come out well in embroidery, but that's a problem for another day.
Anyways this is the first version of our hopefully very large collection. Right now I want the brand to have a synonymous association which I think it does. Once people start to know Vacation Darts by itself I see designs in the realm of Joe Camel cool, Lucky Strike and John Player's.
